The Scam of Substack - Executive Summary
The scam of Substack, in a nutshell, was to create a “honeypot” to attract truth-tellers exposing “government” corruption and criminality who had already been demonetized and censored on every other platform with the promise of earning revenue from subscriptions. For a while, Substack allowed these authors to grow organically. Our own growth on Substack was doubling and coming close to tripling year-over-year until someone flipped the switch in July of 2025, when we (and MANY OTHERS!) saw our revenue and organic growth crater at the same time that Substack began “masturbating” us with fake accounts, censoring comments from Substack readers pointing to our work, and simply not publishing many of our articles even though we had hundreds and hundreds PAID subscribers who were paying Substack to deliver them.

Why Are PFAS Still Used in Drugs When Alternatives Exist?

When you hear “PFAS,” you probably think of nonstick cookware, waterproof jackets, or contaminated drinking water. You probably don’t think of the prescription sitting in your medicine cabinet. Yet fluorinated compounds classified as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are built into a surprisingly wide range of approved pharmaceuticals, often not because they’re essential to how those medicines treat disease, but because they make the drug easier to formulate.
If fluorine serves the manufacturer’s design goals more than the patient’s therapeutic needs, then every PFAS-containing medicine that passes through your body and into the water supply deserves a harder look, particularly now that researchers have mapped out whether effective alternatives already exist. An analysis published in Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy took on exactly that question, and the answer should change how we think about drug design going forward.1
For the study, researchers investigated whether PFAS-containing medicines are truly necessary or whether practical alternatives already exist.2 They reviewed approved active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), the part of a medicine that produces its therapeutic effect, and identified 111 PFAS-containing medicines used in humans and 28 used in veterinary medicine.3

Dead Before Questioning: Another Epstein Recruiter Dies in Mysterious Circumstances

Ghislaine Maxwell is serving twenty years in federal prison for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse minors. Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modelling agent accused of supplying Epstein with young women, died in his cell in Paris in 2022 while awaiting trial on charges of raping minors. Epstein was found dead in a Manhattan jail in 2019. A fourth name emerged from the documents released by the United States Department of Justice. The 68-year-old man, whose name is featured 1,841 times in the DOJ files on Epstein, died before French investigators could question him. Daniel Amar Siad was found dead at his home in Colombes, northwest of Paris, on 20 July 2026.

The Trump family is making headlines again after money management companies tied to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have raked in about $6.3 billion from investments in defense-sector startups that receive hefty government contracts.
According to The Washington Post (1), portfolio funds linked to the Trumps have “invested in more than a dozen defense tech companies and other firms seeking businesses from the Pentagon and federal agencies.”
The investment companies cited in The Post’s analysis include Plainville, N.Y.-based 1789 Capital, an investment firm that says it’s “Funding the Next Chapter of America’s Exceptionalism” on its website’s home page (2). The firm’s leadership team includes Donald Trump, Jr., who’s billed as a partner on the 1789 website.

Three days before Christmas 1976, Edward Nevin III was standing on a BART platform, newspaper in hand, waiting for his train into the city. Amid front page stories detailing a hijacking attempt at SFO and the “computer threat” to the Postal Service, Nevin’s eye was caught by another headline: “Army Tested Biological War in S.F.”
The story spoke of simulated biological attacks on San Francisco that took place over a few days in 1950. No one in the city knew the test was happening, and at least one civilian, a 75-year-old man, died after being exposed to the bacteria. The man’s name was Edward Nevin.

San Francisco filed a lawsuit Sept. 22 against the parent company of Truth Social over President Donald Trump’s posts, claiming the company created a corrupt business scheme through its $100,000-per-month Truth API plan that allows subscribers to get his posts before they become public.
City Attorney David Chiu claims in the lawsuit, filed in San Francisco Superior Court, that Trump Media and Technology Group created financial gain for Trump Media and the president through the new service.
The paid access, launched on Aug. 1, allows subscribers to pay up to $100,000 a month for early access to 10 high-profile Truth Social accounts, including Trump’s.

San Francisco police have arrested four suspects, recovered multiple firearms, and seized over 20,000 counterfeit pills - some containing cychlorphine, a new synthetic drug that is up to 10 times stronger than fentanyl.
The arrests resulted from a months-long investigation that started with the fatal overdose of a San Francisco teenager, according to San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Chief Derrick Lew on Monday.
SFPD opened its investigation after officers responded on April 7 to a home on Bush Street, where a mother had found her teenage son deceased due to a suspected overdose.

‘We Hacked the FBI:’ Hackers Say They Have Data on All FBI Employees

A high profile hacking group claims it has breached multiple FBI-related services and stolen data “on all FBI employees and applicants.” A representative of the group, called ShinyHunters, told 404 Media the data includes FBI agents’ names, home addresses, phone number, and information on their spouse.
The data breach could be massively significant and may have all sorts of national security and counterintelligence implications. Criminals from the same ecosystem as ShinyHunters have previously used hacked data like phone records to track, intimidate, and harass the FBI agents investigating them. The highly sensitive data could also be a boon to foreign intelligence agencies who want to better understand how one of the most important law enforcement and intelligence agencies in the U.S. operates. And if the data fell into the hands of more criminals, FBI agents and their spouses could face serious threats to their safety.

Ranked: Countries Where Bond Yields Are Rising Fastest

The 10-year Treasury briefly poked above 5% this week - peaking at 5.04% on Bloomberg’s tape, the highest since 2007 - before backing off. It’s the first time it has been there since the October 2023 spike, and this time it arrived with company: Japan’s 10-year is above 3% for the first time in three decades, Bunds are at their highest in a decade and a half, gilts are at a post-2008 high, and a Bloomberg gauge of G7 sovereign debt started the month yielding its highest on average since 2000.
The drivers are familiar: oil-fed inflation impulse, massive deficits, and bondholders who have finally started charging for the privilege of holding the long end. The surprise is the geography: the US 10-year has repriced 97 basis points higher over the past twelve months, and that doesn’t even make the top four - South Korea is up 178, Japan 145, Australia 114, France 102.

Open the financial pages and a strange creature stares back at you. The S&P 500 has climbed over 90 percent in three years. The top 10 percent of earners now account for nearly half of all consumer spending. Moody’s, Morgan Stanley, and the New York Fed agree on the shape of the thing: the economy has split in two. Asset-holders ride the upper arm of the “K” upward while wage earners slide down the lower one, watching groceries, rent, and insurance devour paychecks that no longer stretch.
The commentators have responded the way they respond to everything: with a label. Call it “K-shaped” often enough in the news and the naming starts to feel like an explanation. It is not. As Mark Thornton has observed, journalists and mainstream economists love to place simple labels on things they do not understand to cover for their ignorance. The label tells us what is happening. It tells us nothing about why.

The world’s attention has been on the Strait of Hormuz and spiking oil prices because of the conflict in the Middle East. Israeli forces were active overnight, with the number of airstrikes and artillery strikes against southern Lebanon substantially higher than it has been in recent weeks, raising concern that the war is once again facing imminent escalation.
Not all the attacks were directly targeting municipalities, either. Israel fired phosphorus munitions at the Tyre District, targeting olive groves and citrus orchards, which were set ablaze by the incendiaries.
This has been an ongoing problem throughout the war, with fires set in forests as well as economically important olive groves amounting to what the Lebanese government described as a “scorched earth” policy.
‘Pausing’ Intensifies: OpenAI Unleashes Latest Model Minutes After Dario Dumps Magnum Opus
Update (1417ET): Well, well, well...
Anthropic’s new Opus launch went up around lunchtime in New York, and by early afternoon OpenAI had rolled out GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, halving prices yet again.
GPT-6 Sol now costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output, half the $4/$20 promo rate Anthropic matched earlier today. GPT-6 Luna goes for a dime in and 50 cents out, pricing that looks built to fight the open-weight models eating token share. OpenAI says cached input gets a 90% discount, which puts Sol’s cache reads at $0.20, the same rate we call Anthropic’s “real knife” below. GPT-6 Astra stays on top at $10/$50. The upshot: the $4/$20 price point didn’t survive the afternoon, and Opus 5.5 now costs twice as much as OpenAI’s workhorse on input and output.
Public Confidence in Measles Vaccine Falls in U.S. and Vaccination Rates Decline

Public confidence in the safety of measles vaccines has declined in the United States, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. The survey found that 76 percent of people in the U.S. consider the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine safe for children. That figure was 84 percent in a similar Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in May 2020. The latest poll surveyed 1,143 adults between Sept. 11 and Sept. 14, 2026.1
The poll also found that a bipartisan majority of Americans still support vaccinating children against measles, mumps and rubella. At the same time, the survey recorded a decline in confidence about vaccine safety. The decrease was particularly pronounced among respondents identifying as Republicans.2
In August 2026, Kaiser Family Foundation analysis of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) vaccination data shows that 92.4 percent of U.S. kindergarteners had received the MMR vaccine during the 2025–26 school year. That compares with a 95 percent MMR vaccine coverage rate among kindergarteners in the 2019–20 school year before the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting a nationwide drop of 2.6 percent. Kaiser Family Foundation reported that the latest figure left approximately 280,000 kindergarteners without documented MMR vaccination.3
30-year Treasury yield hits highest level since 2004 as bond market rout continues

Treasury yields were trading at multidecade highs on Thursday, as investor bets on another rate hike from the Federal Reserve mounted.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was up 5 basis points 5.456% and reached a 2004 peak. The benchmark 10-year Treasury note yield, which is tied to rates on mortgages, rose more than 4 basis points to 5.162% and hit its highest level since July 2007. The yield on the 2-year note gained more than 1 basis point to 4.908% and remained close to a 2023 high.
One basis point equals 0.01%, and yields and prices move in opposite directions.

President Xi touched down in the US for a major state visit yesterday, wherein Trump rolled out the usual bombast and theatrics in an attempt to impress his ascendant guest.
The most notable from his gauche bag of tricks was the attempt to “mog” Xi with an ear-deafening fly-over by a B1 supersonic bomber, which did not quite go the way Trump had planned. Trump’s nerves unexpectedly betrayed him, and instead of conveying puissance, he conveyed….something of a less flattering but similar sounding nature:

I was just now listening to Andrei Martyanov, interviewed by Daniel Davis on his Deep Dive podcast. In the middle of their discussion, Martyanov mentioned an idea that has long been on my mind. In my humble and untutored opinion, American and NATO military leaders are still stuck in the 20th Century model of expeditionary warfare, which in 2026 is as obsolete as the horse cavalry charge. Martyanov discusses this about 23 minutes into the video, but listen to it all.
You might have heard me writing and speaking recently about how the 1991 “Desert Storm” model of massive force assembly into the theater before conducting a major operation has been made obsolete by the proliferation of accurate missiles and drones to even 2nd and 3rd tier militaries. And also how the Forward Operating Base model used more recently in Afghanistan and Iraq is just as obsolete, for the same reason.
