The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) killed Israeli Nova music festival attendees near the Gaza border while aiming for Hamas militants during the attack on October 7, according to an Israeli police investigation. It is unknown how many of the 364 concert goers were killed by the IDF. This development raises questions about the Israeli forces’ refusal to negotiate for the release of captives, feeding into the complexity of which side is responsible for the deaths on October 7.
Syrian Girl tweeted that Israeli Apache helicopters fired their own civilians. She shared this passage from an article in Yedioth Ahronoth, a major Israeli newspaper: “The pilots realized that there was tremendous difficulty in distinguishing within the occupied outposts and settlements who was a terrorist and who was a soldier or civilian … The rate of fire against the thousands of terrorists was tremendous at first, and only at a certain point, did the pilots begin to slow down the attacks and carefully select the targets.”
Yasmine Porat, an Israeli woman who survived an attack at the Be’eri kibbutz, said that Israeli civilians were “undoubtedly” killed by the IDF during a gun battle with “insane” heavy crossfire between Hamas and the IDF. She said that the Palestinian fighters treated the civilians “humanely”.

A police investigation reportedly indicates that Hamas did not know about the festival in advance.
A police investigation of the Nova music festival massacre on October 7 indicates that the IDF mistakenly shot some festival attendees while firing at Hamas terrorists.
The alleged debacle was reported by Israeli newspaper Haaretz, citing a police source.
The source told Haaretz that their police investigation intimates that an IDF combat helicopter fired at terrorists after arriving on the scene. While targeting the perpetrators, the helicopter reportedly also hit the festivalgoers.
Business Insider reached out to Josh Breiner, the Haaretz journalist who broke this story, for comment.
Three hundred sixty-four people were killed at the festival, a third of the fatalities from Hamas militants’ coordinated terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7, per The Times of Israel.
Israeli security’s assessment is that Hamas did not have advance knowledge of the Nova music festival next to Kibbutz Re’im, and targeted it spontaneously after infiltrating Gaza’s border, Haaretz reports.
The festival was initially billed to end on Friday night and only extended to Saturday, late in the day, it reported.
Approximately 3,500 people attended the psychedelic trance festival three miles away from the Gaza border, per The New York Times.
Alongside the fatalities, dozens of festival attendees were kidnapped and taken to Gaza. A video of 25-year-old Noa Argamani being hoisted onto a motorcycle by militants while calling for her boyfriend went viral on social media.

Journalist Max Blumenthal examined photos following the October 7 attack and said that Palestinian weapons could not have generated enough heat to incinerate the vehicles at the concert site, and that the damage was likely caused by Israeli Hellfire missiles. He said that in 1986, Israel instituted the ‘Hannibal Directive’ policy to use maximum force to prevent Israeli troops from falling into enemy hands as hostages, even at the cost of killing the captured soldiers and civilians. Blumenthal said the directive was supposedly rescinded in 2016. Blumenthal said that the damage to the Be’eri kibbutz was caused by shelling from Israeli tanks.
Campamento Tortuguero Playa Hermosa is a turtle sanctuary on Bonfil Beach outside of Acapulco that rescues sea turtle eggs that would be likely destroyed by vehicles on the beaches or pilfered by tourists. The sanctuary protects the eggs, hatches them and releases the babies into the ocean while protecting them from seagulls and other winged predators.
The 35-year-old sanctuary is run by the mother/daughter duo of Monica and Michel Vallarino, who have helped educate the community and the tourists on the ecology of the turtles while simultaneously providing a refuge for puppies, kittens, ducks, rabbits, and other wayward animals.
The Art of Liberty Foundation hosted an annual fundraiser from 2018-2020 called the Art of Liberty on the Beach (aKa The Turtle Party), where many of the leading artists in the liberty movement have rocked the sanctuary including Grant "Prezence" Ellman, Truniversal/Free Willow, Alais Clay, the Freenauts, DJ Koala, DJ Ramiro Romani and ELA-mental among others.
The sanctuary was devasted by Hurricane Otis, a category five hurricane that hit Acapulco and Bonfil Beach on November 2nd 2023.

The Art of Liberty Foundation is organizing a fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds will go to direct relief. The Vallarinos have agreed to share 25% of the proceeds with other Bonfil Beach residents in need to be distributed at their discretion.
