President Xi touched down in the US for a major state visit yesterday, wherein Trump rolled out the usual bombast and theatrics in an attempt to impress his ascendant guest.
The most notable from his gauche bag of tricks was the attempt to “mog” Xi with an ear-deafening fly-over by a B1 supersonic bomber, which did not quite go the way Trump had planned. Trump’s nerves unexpectedly betrayed him, and instead of conveying puissance, he conveyed….something of a less flattering but similar sounding nature:
Someone check his diaper.
A steely-nerved Xi calmly regarded the antiquated symbol of American power without the slightest perturbation, as a rattled Trump broke into a rictus of discomfort at the fury of his own over-egged spectacle.
Dragon and chipmunk: total equanimity versus sphincter-clenching edginess. It is now being hailed as a generational loss of ‘aura’.
The remainder of the first day went well, however, with Trump parading a consummately humble Xi around the White House premises, gleefully showing off his most eccentric little curios and ‘home improvements’ like a kid displaying his toy collection, not least of which being the replacement of Biden’s state portrait with an autopen in the stately West Wing colonnade.
The tour culminated in Trump presenting his gracious guest with a special gift of an American eagle proudly clutching a serpent in its talons—a piece of artwork Trump claims to have collaborated in creating:
What do you think the symbolism here is meant to convey, particularly given that Trump had a hand in its design?
We know like the serpent, the Chinese dragon is related to the reptile—is there anything to read into it beyond this? It happened to come on the same day that slack-jawed senator John Kennedy characterized the Iranians, Chinese, North Koreans, and Russians as “reptiles” on Fox News. And who is the “chief reptile” among them, according to the drawling bumpkin? Why, of course, China’s Xi:

Western politicians come off as snot-nosed schoolchildren, snickering like bullies who haven’t yet had their noses bloodied. Dehumanizing their victims with epithets like ‘reptile’, which happened to be thematic today as globally reviled villain Netanyahu took the stage at the UN shortly after this. The entire hall emptied in protestation, amidst a hail of jeers and boos before Netanyahu even had a chance to loosen his fly-flecked maw:
And when he did open it, truly incredible things poured from his unctuous lips.

Like the cretinous Louisiana senator before him, the Israeli ambassador even had the chutzpah to openly bully the Iranian delegate, taunting him with a Starlink terminal in an unprofessionally hostile display that would seem to break every protocol of decorum in a place of diplomatic ‘sanctity’ like the UN:
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN approached a member of the Iranian delegation, offering him a Starlink device and praying for ‘regime change’ in Iran
The Iranian diplomat ignored the Israeli and did not acknowledge his existence.
Truly baleful people.
Trump likewise adopted a hateful mien in his speech condemning Iran, wherein he again threatened to destroy the entire country after long championing its “people” which he professed to care so much about:
Last year: “People of Iran, we are coming to help and save you.”
Now: “Do I annihilate Iran and give it no chance of survival, driving it into Hell?”
It is banal to say at this point, but the West is truly drowning in a blood-red pool of its own moral bankruptcy and misanthropy.
Contrast this with the politesse witnessed in Xi’s magisterial address at the White House, wherein he called for peaceful cooperation and again urged to avoid the dangers of the Thucydides trap:
Ultimately, not much of a concrete nature came of Xi’s visit, other than some flowery PR and hopeful overtures of future cooperation. It was a statedly benign trip with Trump eking out every opportunity to put the US in the best light possible next to its greatest rival, and indirectly conveying the message that the US continues to hold all the cards in international matters.
On that note, a pithy Youtube comment captured the spirit of things best:
